Frequently asked Questions.

While not all of the homes we build technically qualify as Passive Houses, we still approach them with the same commitment to the principles of passive design.
We call these ‘high-performance homes’. Just like Passive Houses, they are built for a healthier, more comfortable and more energy-efficient lifestyle – just how we like it.
-
It’s simple, really – it's a home that’s been designed and built to perform to measurable standards of sustainability, health and comfort.
We take an approach informed by the principles of passive design and apply it within the parameters of your custom home. While it may not meet the criteria to qualify as a Passive House, it will still offer many of the same lifestyle and energy-efficiency benefits.
-
While the Passive House design standard originated in Germany, it's becoming more popular in Australia – and for good reason. Basically, it aims to achieve exceptional levels of energy efficiency, thermal insulation, air quality and comfort with minimal reliance on heating and cooling.
To be certified as a Passive House, your home must meet internationally recognised performance criteria based on the five principles of passive design:
A superinsulated building envelope
Airtight construction
High-performance window glazing
Thermal bridge-free detailing
Heat recovery ventilation
-
We think Passive Houses are the future. Not only do they offer enhanced comfort, health and air quality, but they do so through innovative building techniques that reduce the need for heating and cooling. That means lower bills, less energy consumption and minimal impact on the environment.

We find that the best results are achieved when we are involved during the conceptual stages of your project. As leaders in the construction of passive and high-performance homes, our expertise adds value to the design while ensuring a seamless process and outcome that aligns with your budget and needs.

No – we prefer to collaborate with a select team of architects and designers from the outset. This allows everyone involved to work towards a unified vision, from pre-construction and design through to handover. It also ensures transparent costing, streamlined communication and a more efficient building process for you.
-
Sorry, we don’t offer a design-and-construct service. However, we have an extensive network of trusted architects and design partners who we collaborate with closely during the design process. This allows us to oversee every stage of your project, ensuring a smooth journey from pre-construction through to completion.

Simply put, we’re passionate about sustainable living. We are committed to saying no to gas on every project.
All-electric homes reduce reliance on natural gas, use less energy and represent another step towards ditching fossil fuels for good. You can even take it a step further and add solar panels to become carbon negative.
